How can my website become innovative, fresh, pleasant for visitors and make sense to me? That is the question For Bar JD and my clients, StudioPress is the answer! Appearance coupled with Responsiveness let your website work well for you.
Responsive — What is that?
Newer devices with touch screens change the access points for people visiting your website. Scrolling down becomes a comfortable standard, while looking for sidebars becomes a distraction. For many years, website design purists have been crying out for more
- “black and white”.
Early supporters may have had a vision of the tablets and phones that were a fantasy for most of us.
That refrain becomes more popular today with touch screens and scrolling. Web design presentation from two-three years ago may not be appealing for visitors today. The view may be skewed. If the menus aren’t distorted they may be spread widely over the small screen. An example I’ve found recently is the Genesis Sample theme which is included in the StudioPress Pro-Package (all themes). I really like this theme and would like to use it more, but it is a bare bones theme meant for people to use in development. To add responsiveness to this theme would be adding a crutch that the developer designers would find insulting and uncomfortable as they use the sample child theme to create their own custom child theme without risking compromise of their Genesis frame copy.
The LOOK — Good for You and Visitors
For those of us who want a theme ready to go out of the box, StudioPress offers a wide range from the wide, full screen, exceptionally narrow and traditionally centered. There is some thought that the centered will have appeal for smaller devices, but I have checked all of the options and they work. In 2013, StudioPress designers began re-working the themes to get them to the responsive level. Each theme was re-named to have Pro added to the name. New themes with dramatic views included 411 Pro and Brian Gardner’s stimulating Sixteen-Nine Pro.
Dramatic is a term that has application all over the place with new themes at StudioPress. There are new themes for specific niches (which will work beautifully for other fields). You’ll find themes aimed at website featuring
- Real Estate,
- Just Plain Blogging
- Only to learn that there are still choices that fit each and every one of these specific niches as well as ways the ‘niche themes’ can be used for other specialties.
